Coaching at Chandos
All coaches are excellent at teaching all levels of player, please see their specialist areas below. Demand for individual lessons is high so please contact individual coaches for their availability. Please note, if you are not a member of the club, the first lesson is subject to a £5 guest fee which should be paid to the office prior to your lesson. After your first lesson, if you wish to continue with coaching you can join as a coaching member. This is better value should you take regular lessons. Pete Quek, Head Coach
Having gained a degree in psychology from Exeter University, Pete has gained various coaching qualifications and has developed tennis programmes for hundreds of children and adults over a period of 15 years. He is an LTA CCA licenced coach. His experience spans over 15 years. Pete was Assistant Head Coach at Westway Sports Centre, a LTA high performance club. He developed programmes involving hundreds of chidren from beginners through to nationally ranked junior players. Pete enjoys working with players of all abilities, and his main aim is to provide a positive and enjoyable learning experience for all.
Individual lesson strengths: Pete enjoys developing young junior players to improve their all round technical game with positive and supportive coaching techniques. Pete regulary coaches adult's playing recreational tennis to team players who wish to develope a more competitive game.

Gunther Darkey
Gunther is from Ghana where he was ranked the number one junior for his age group at various levels. Age 20, he won the 1996 men's national senior title and was ranked by the ATP for the first time. He has represented his country in the Davis Cup since 1997. In 2000 he reached the final of the African Nation Championships.
Individual lesson strengths: Working with high level performance players from age 12 upwards to Adult top level. His emphasis on sound technical production on all shots and bringing you the skills needed to perform at high levels.

Vince Ranson
Vince represented Essex since the age of 11 and won their over 35's Division 1 in 2005. He has a career best ATP ranking of 650 and has 16 years coaching experience.
Individual Lesson Strengths: Providing a motivation and improvement for club players in their singles and doubles play.

Bobby Wilson
He was British Number One for many years and became Great Britain's most capped Davis Cup player between 1955 and 1968. He reached four Wimbledon singles quarter finals. He has the unique record of playing against 37 Wimbledon Champions, from Fred Perry to Ille Nastase. Bobby has coached at all levels for over twenty years.

Chris Maher
Chris has more than twenty years coaching experience including county mini tennis, county and national/international junior tennis and adult tennis. He is PCA and LTA level 3 qualified and licensed coach. Also worked as a travelling coach with a team of ITF and Futures players for 3 years playing throughout Europe.Individual

Vivian Gabb
Vivian has worked at various clubs up until 2005 (David Lloyd, Mercury, Coolhurst) when she started concentrating on developing her daughter’s career and through this has seen the best players and met some of the best junior coaches. Vivian was the Women’s Singles and Doubles Middlesex Champion (1986, 1987) and is a Middlesex County Tennis Player (35 plus). She is also a Pilates teacher and she played netball for Great Britain.
Individual lesson strengths: Extremely strong in working with our younger aged players. Developing a good technical base from an early aged coupled with a positive players. Expert at developing girls and ladies tennis to high levels.

TK Segbedzie
TK joined Chandos in 2006 and he is in the process of taking his professional coaching badge. He is an excellent player with probably the hardest serve in north London with speeds up to 140 mph! TK is available to players who do not want coaching but want someone to hit/play with of a high standard. He is happy to play tennis with kids as well.
Individual lesson strengths: Tk is a great player to test your skills against whether junior or Adult. If you want a great workout book a hit with TK now.
